David Agus is a prostate cancer specialist who directs the Spielberg Family Center for Applied Proteomics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He and his colleagues aim to understand the underpinnings of individual variation and use that information to predict treatment responsiveness and improve patient care.

Mari Baker was formerly president of BabyCenter, the world's leading Web site for new and expectant parents, and a senior vice president at Intuit, which she joined in 1989 as product manager for Quicken. Ms. Baker led the growth of Quicken into the No. 1 personal finance product in the world. She is also an emeritus trustee of Stanford University.

David Brailer was the first national coordinator for health information technology, appointed by President Bush in 2004. More recently, Dr. Brailer founded Health Evolution Partners, a private equity fund focused on transforming the health-care industry through greater efficiency, quality and responsiveness to consumers.

John Doerr has backed many of America's best entrepreneurial leaders. He came to Silicon Valley in 1974 and joined a small chip maker, Intel, just as it launched the legendary 8080 microprocessor. He serves on the boards of Google, Amazon, Intuit, Homestore and Sun.

Dana G. Mead has focused on identifying new medical technologies, developing new markets and therapies and building world-class management teams. Prior to joining KPCB, Mr. Mead was president of Guidant Vascular Intervention.

Sue Siegel has spent more than two decades commercializing key enabling technologies in biomedical research and health care. Prior to joining MDV, Ms. Siegel was president and director of Affymetrix, a company that helped propel the expansion of the genomics field and the opportunity for personalized medicine.

Dietrich Stephan is a human geneticist on the faculty of the Translational Genomics Research Institute and chairman of the National Institutes of Health Neuroscience Microarray Consortium. He has identified genes that predispose to disorders such as autism, exercise-induced heart attacks and sudden infant death syndrome, and contributed to understanding a multitude of common disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
