We believe in setting the highest standards possible for quality, reliability and security in handling your DNA samples. To this end, we process your samples at a CLIA-certified laboratory. Not everybody does. We think that makes a difference, because complying with CLIA (the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) means meeting exacting standards to minimize the possibility of errors.
CLIA quality regulations are set by the federal Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. CLIA-compliant laboratories are subject to strict guidelines for quality assurance. Quality assurance includes patient sample testing from beginning to end, including sample processing, daily monitoring of refrigerator temperatures, facilities designed to allow only a one-direction work flow and a specially trained and certified workforce. This quality assurance program has to be in place for a laboratory to be awarded CLIA certification.
